NEW DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES IS
TUESDAY,
JANUARY 16, 2007.
Mind's Ear created the International Audio + Theatre Script Competition, or IATSC, to create a fair and level forum in which all audio playwrights from all areas of the globe could compete. Our goal was to create an open, challenging arena in which the best and brightest new voices in audio storytelling could be honored. To do that, we needed to remove as many barriers as we could, so that the first-time playwright could compete with the seasoned pro, so that the published scribe could test their work against that of the factory worker who writes for pleasure, so that the work of an author from Idaho could compete next to the work of a biochemist from rural Scotland.
Our rules are simple. When we say "If you've written it, you're eligible to enter it" , we mean it! We do have ONE restriction, though. For strictly logistical reasons, we do require that all scripts be written in English. This is not to say that your story told in Sanskrit or Finnish or ancient Ukranian is not worthy. It simply means that we don't know enough qualified judges to evaluate scripts written in all of humanity's glorious languages, let alone enough skilled actors to perform them.
We invite all English-language audio playwrights to enter. We also encourage anyone preparing a script for entry to read our Judging Guidelines . This are the EXACT instructions, word-for-word, given to our judges. Read this and you'll know precisely what they are looking for in your script. How many other contests give you a glimpse inside the judging process? We WANT to help you write the very best script you can, and we believe that the information in these guidelines will help you to do just that.
WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO CHALLENGE YOURSELF AS AN ARTIST!
Break a few "rules"; try something new; dare to TRY.
GOOD LUCK!
We look forward to reading your entry!
